Pupil Premium

Background

In 2012 the Government introduced a new funding stream in to schools called the Pupil Premium. This funding is given to schools based upon the number of pupils, in school, who are eligible to claim Free School Meals (FSM), are Looked After or who are children of Service Personnel.

This funding is allocated to initiatives in school which are aimed at maximizing a child's potential, both academically and socially.

In September 2012, the Government increased the funding to include all children, in a school, who would have been eligible for FSM within the last six years.
