Uniform

At Maney Hill Primary, we encourage children to take pride in their appearance and remind them that, whilst wearing school uniform, they are ambassadors for our school. Therefore, it is imperative that children attend wearing the appropriate uniform.

EQUALITY

This school takes seriously its legal obligation to avoid unlawfully discriminating against any protected characteristic and aims to ensure that the uniform policy is as inclusive as possible.

AFFORDABILITY

This school is committed to ensuring that its school uniform is affordable and accessible to all pupils and does not place an unreasonable financial burden on parents.

Most items of school uniform can be purchased from high street stores e.g. Asda, Tesco, Marks & Spencer etc.

BCR Schoolwear and Clive Mark are our main suppliers of school uniform. See further details below.

You may of course purchase a sweatshirt of the same colour from any other source you wish, with or without logo.

Parents can donate their ‘Nearly New’ uniform to the PTA which are then available for purchase by other families.

Government or local charity funding towards the cost of uniform may also be available. Please contact the school office for further information.

We discourage the wearing of designer sportswear and footwear.

NON-COMPLIANCE

Staff members are permitted to discipline pupils for breaching this policy in accordance with the school’s Behaviour Policy. In such instances, parents will be notified.

JEWELLERY

School policy is that children do not wear jewellery to school, although watches are permitted. If your child has pierced ears, then we request that they only wear small studs. Please ensure that these are removed before coming to school on days when your child has PE or Games.

BOOK BAGS & WATER BOTTLES

Book bags can be purchased from the school office.

All children are provided with a school water bottle free of charge when they start school; replacement bottles and caps are available from the school office for a supplementary cost.

LABELLING & LOST PROPERTY

It is important that all items of clothing, footwear and school bags are labelled clearly with the child’s name.

Lost items, if named, will be returned to the child. Unnamed items will be taken to lost property. All lost property is retained for the half-term and then either disposed of, shared with PTA to re-sell or sent to charity periodically if left unclaimed. Notice will be given in this event, allowing parents and carers the opportunity to claim lost items before disposal.

CHANGES TO UNIFORM

Parents and pupils will be consulted over any changes to school uniform.
